Foundations for barrel racers
Speed doesn’t fix holes in a foundation.
Good horsemanship does.
My barrel racing clinics are designed for riders who want more than just a faster time — riders who want a horse that feels better, responds quicker, stays sounder, and holds together under pressure.
Yes, we’ll make runs.
Yes, we’ll talk strategy.
But the real focus is building a solid, correct foundation that shows up when it matters.
If your horse feels heavy in your hands, struggles to stay soft, loses shape in the turns, swaps leads, or falls apart when you add speed — those aren’t “pattern problems.” They’re foundation problems, and that’s exactly what we address at my clinics.

What We Work On
In these clinics, we slow things down just enough to speed everything up later.
You’ll learn how to:
- Understand how your horse thinks, not just how to maneuver them
- Break the horse down nto individual parts so you can fix issues instead of masking them
- Ride on the correct diagonal — and understand why it matters
- Create lateral control, softness, and responsiveness without force
- Improve position, balance, and timing in and between the barrels
- Keep your horse round, driving from behind, and light in the face — all at the same time
Every exercise has a purpose. Every drill connects back to the pattern.
What Makes These Clinics Different
This isn’t a “just go make runs and hope for the best” kind of clinic.
My goal is for you to leave my clinic with:
- A clear plan you can use at home
- Tools to problem-solve, not just follow steps
- A better understanding of why things work — so you can adjust as your horse progresses
- More confidence in your feel, your timing, and your decisions as a rider
When you build a solid foundation, the pattern gets easier — and speed becomes a byproduct.
From the Pasture to the Pay Window
Whether you’re starting a young horse, rebuilding one that’s struggling, or trying to get more consistency out of a seasoned competitor, these clinics are about building a horse that lasts — mentally and physically.
My mission is simple:
Help you become a more efficient, thoughtful rider — and help your horse perform willingly, softly, and confidently.
If you’re ready to stop chasing fixes and start building something solid, I’d love to ride with you.
